Pinté una flor - I painted a flower

Considero este el primer óleo en el que elijo el tema y ya no lo siento como un ejercicio. Me imagino que cada cuadro es siempre una aventura y un proceso de exploración, pero a diferencia de los cuadros anteriores yo elegí la flor(foto tomada en el Jardín Botánico de Singapur), la dibujé, la pinté. El trabajo continua  con la supervision del profesor. Tomo 12 sesiones. Aproximadamente 30 horas. Con esto he aprendido a valorar mas el trabajo del pintor de brocha fina.



I consider this my first formal oil painting. I don't feel it is an exercise anymore. I imagine each painting is always and adventure and an exploration process, but was was different this time was that I picked up the flower ( from a picture I took at the Botanic Garden in Singapore) , I drew it, I painted it. Still supervised  by the teacher. It took me 12 sessions. Approximately 30 hours. With this, I have learned to appreciate more the job a fine brush painter.

Para continuar explorando, decidí inscribirme en talleres que agreguen al proceso mas formal que estoy siguiendo en las clases de pintura al óleo.
En este taller aprendí a transferir imágenes a lienzos y trabajar con acrílico. Todo el trabajo parte de dibujos y fotografías tomadas por mí

As part of my discovery process, I decided to sign up on workshops that will add to the more formal process that I have in my oil painting classes. In this workshop I learned to transfer images into canvas and work with acrylic. This work started with my drawings and photos.

El Incio - The Beginning

Al mudarme a Singapur tuve la oportunidad de dedicarme a explorar áreas que siempre me habían interesado pero que por falta de tiempo nunca pude desarrollar. Fue así como terminé dedicando parte de mi tiempo al dibujo, la acuarela y finalmente al óleo. Este último viene siendo un gran descubrimiento.

When I moved to Singapore I had the opportunity to explore some areas that I had always been interested in but that because of time, or lack of it, actually, I could never develop. That is how I ended up devoting part of my time to drawing, painting and oil. This last one has been a great discovery.




El proceso mas formal y menos autodidacta que tenía antes, partió de trabajos de dibujo, de simples líneas y figuras, para luego trabajar el sombreado y dibujos más complejos. Al pasar al óleo, he comenzado a trabajar algunos trabajos similares de manera monocromática antes de pasar a seleccionar los temas que quiero trabajar de manera personal. Y es que sin técnica jamás podré expresarme con la libertad que quiero.


The more formal process started by doing some drawings, starting with simple lines and shapes, to move onto shading and then to more complex ones. When starting working with oil, I have started to work on similar projects in a monochromatic way before moving on to chose more personal themes that I would like to do. And indeed, without developing a technique, I will never be able to convey myself with the freedom I want.
